Departure day is upon us! The last 24 hours have been craaaazy, what with packing up my apartment (my little sister is moving in while I'm away), cleaning the apartment, packing, unpacking, re-packing, working, going to my parents in eidsvoll with my two cats and then back to oslo, packing, picking up my insurance card, and finally, going to the airport. Jeez louise, I need a break!

What's better then than a direct flight to New York with television screens on the seats in front of us, huge books, sleeping kits and jogging suits. I'm a sucker for comfort, and I have a feeling that this flight will prove to be the last real relaxing time for a month. When arriving in NY, we'll take a train from grand central (where is that?) to Naugatuck, Connecticut (I didn't realise until now that we get to check off yet another state on the itinerary, yeah for that!), where my host sister Johanna is picking us up for a three hours drive to Concord, New Hampshire, where she lives. The two hour train ride is supposed to be beautiuos, so general excitement is in order :)

On August 3rd we'll pick up our rental car in Concord and somewhen that evening the road trip experience will commence - I'm thrilled and scared shitless, hehehe. (Skrekkblandet fryd som det heter på godt norsk.) It's a good thing I'm an optimist; every problem might turn out to be a great experience, such a cliché, but very right. Word.

So, I have an unfinished shoppinglist for whenever we get around to actual shopping:
1) The minute we go south-ish I need a cowboy hat.
2) A guitar - I hope we'll be able to get a cheap one quickly so we could start practicing; poor ear drums, haha!
3) Maybe a harmonica with a neck-holder-thingy for the one who is driving ;)
4) Yoga things: yoga toes, mandukas, etc
5) Clear eyes and other fun american pharmacy stuff

The list will continue..

What I most crave now though, is a huge mint chocolate chocolate chip milkshake or a grande snicker flurry. What do you say, Vibeke?
